In Real Life...

I live in Northern California's wine country with my wife, Dori Smith, who is also a darned good programmer. Dori is a consultant and author, and also my co-author of the JavaScript VQS, Mac OS X Unwired, and Dreamweaver VQS books. We live happily in geek heaven, with a bunch of computers (I think they're breeding!), a speedy Net connection, Ethernet strung through the house, and our wireless network so we're never out of touch, even at the breakfast table. Following in our footsteps is our 19 year old son, Sean, who is now attending UC Santa Cruz. I became an Instant Stepdad when Dori and I got together when Sean was 5, and it's a constant amazement to me how great it is to be a parent. Dori tells me how lucky I was to miss out on all those diapers, too. |
| What would a personal site be without a mention of our excellent cat, Pixel? We went to the animal shelter planning to get a kitten, and while Dori was admiring a beautiful (and profoundly aloof) cat in the cage next to him, Pixel reached out through the bars of the cage and tapped Dori on the shoulder. We decided that he had picked us, and there's no turning back once that happens. Naturally, Pixel has his own Web site. He'll even answer your e-mail (try it and see). |
